Jamie's Situation Is Unfortunate, But Essay

Jamie's husband was wise to leave an insurance policy for the family to take care of any immediate expenses, but she is realizing that she will need to find employment to in order to better make ends meet. There are several avenues Jamie can take in order to bring more money into the home. First, she could register for eBay and then do an inventory of things she has in the home that she no longer needs or is using. It is said that one person's junk is another person's treasure. If she and her deceased husband both had MP3 players, for example, she could sell one since it will no longer be needed. She may be surprised at the things she finds around the house that can be sold on eBay for a nice profit.

In the long run, she will eventually need to find steady employment. She could always apply to be a student worker at the school she attends and work hours that coincide with the time her son is in school. There are other opportunities also, such as tutoring and work at home opportunities....

She could apply to be a research assistant for one of the professor at her college which wouldn't require her to come to an office every day since the research and communication with the professor can all be done online.
If she is skilled in a particular area such as sewing, knitting or cooking she could always offer her services for a fee. She could make choir robes or knit winter scarves and hats for neighbors. Or, she could cook meals for her busy friends and family for them to freeze and eat later for a fee. In the meantime, she can search for full-time employment with excellent healthcare and tuition benefits to help her reach her goals. She may only be able to take one class online per semester while working full-time, but by using her time management and stress management techniques she will be fine. It won't necessarily be easy in the beginning for Jamie, but if she sticks to her plan, being organized, stress free and financially stable will become second nature to her.
